About the project
The Dollhouse project is a stunning kitchen design project located in NJ, featuring a unique and mysterious hidden space behind the refrigerator that was discovered by the clients after they adopted the home. Upon further examination, we discovered that this space could be transformed into a cleverly-designed butler's pantry, hidden by a tall cabinet that opens to reveal a larger space for storage and preparation.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was the large chimney chute in the middle of the kitchen, which couldn't be moved. To work around this obstacle, we designed the island around it, using it as a central gathering space for the family while they cook and socialize. The result is a beautifully designed and functional kitchen that makes the most of its limited space and unique features.
The exterior of the Dollhouse is designed to resemble a dollhouse, with its charming facade and whimsical details. Inside, we used vertical stacked tile and soft whites to make the space feel tall and open, despite its limited square footage. We added some extra sparkle and luxury with all GE cafe appliances in white and gold, which match the beautiful brass hardware and lighting fixtures.
Overall, the Dollhouse is a testament to the power of creativity and innovation in design, as we were able to transform a quirky and challenging space into a beautiful and functional kitchen that the family can enjoy for years to come.
